Try This to Bring a Smile to Your Face

With Christmas comes talk of toys.  And recently I was with some friends and we were reminiscing about childhood toys.

So I'm going to tell you something I have found to be one of life's simple pleasures - searching on Ebay for old toys!  Just this past week I went on a search for a Suzy Q doll.  At least I thought that was how it was spelled, but since I couldn't yet read when I owned one, I'm not surprised that search didn't work.  Turns out this little doll was called Suzy Cute. Seeing her little face and clothes brought back so many fond memories.

But I don't remember mine looking perfect like this:

But more like this one below with the crazy hair below:

But I definitely remember both of those outfits shown above.  Reading the descriptions brought more memories back.  They said when you squished the tummy the arms went up in the air.  I had forgotten all about that.  There were lots of items to buy that were still in the original packaging. I had this one back in the day:

I even found the mother-lode of Suzy Cute stuff:

I think I had the bed and a stroller and that little Santa outfit.

Another memory came back when I looked at this stuff which may explain why I still have such a fondness for this little doll.  I didn't get this doll for Christmas or a birthday - it was actually the first thing I earned.  I earned Suzy Cute by keeping my bed dry for a month!  And I earned her accessories by keeping that record up.  This was when all I knew about a month was that it was a succession of squares on paper that hung on the wall.

I don't know what became of my little doll.  I'm sure no toy I ever owned was kept in the box in mint condition.  I probably ruined all my toys (as well as my older sister's) because I PLAYED with them.

I have to admit that at first I considered buying one of these sets.  But then I realized I didn't want the doll, just the memories.  So I hit "right click" on several of the photos and saved them in a file.  I can look at them whenever I want to.

So here's my suggestion to you.  Look up an old favorite toy and save those memories to bring a smile to your face!
